Enrollment -  大学 of 达拉斯 403(b) Retirement Plan

大学 employees must complete the following steps to enroll in the 大学 of 达拉斯 Retirement Plan.

  2. 员工 must also complete and sign the 403(b) Salary Deferral Agreement Form and return it to the Office of 人力资源.  This form indicates what percentage of your salary you want to have allocated to your retirement account.   
  3. New hires may qualify to receive their 大学 (employer) match upon hire if they were employed at another university or college.  A 403(b) Verification of Prior Work Experience form must be completed by the employee's former employer and received by the Office of 人力资源 for review.

*Your enrollment is not finalized until the TIAA online enrollment is completed and the Salary Deferral Agreement form is received.*

Retirement Accounts 

The 大学 of 达拉斯 员工 Retirement Plan is administered by the Teachers Insurance Annuity Association (TIAA), the nation's largest private retirement company. Founded to serve the retirement needs of higher education faculty and staff, TIAA offers a wide range of investment options designed to realize growth of capital and 最小化风险.

Regular employees that have worked 20 hours or more per week for 12 continuous months are eligible to receive retirement plan contributions from the 大学.  员工 who are scheduled to work less than 20 hours per week may qualify for matching contributions if they have worked more than 1,000 hours in 12 continuous months.  见摘要 Plan Description for more details.
 
Once eligible, the 大学 contributes an amount equal to 2% of the employee's salary to his/her TIAA account whether or not the employee makes a contribution. If the employee elects to contribute to his or her retirement account, the 大学 will match the employee's contribution up to a 5% maximum match, for a total 大学 contribution of 7%.

员工 may contribute more than 5 percent of their salary, up to the 国税局最大.

 
The 大学's contribution begins after one year of employment unless the new employee is already a participant in a previous higher education employer sponsored retirement plan, in which case, the contribution begins the first month of employment. 员工 may begin making individual contributions the first month of employment. 员工 contributions are made on a pre-tax basis.
 
All contributions are vested immediately. However, contributions and earnings must remain in the account until the employee is no longer employed by the 大学 of 达拉斯.
 
Supplemental Retirement Accounts are also offered through TIAA. Contact the Office of 人力资源 for more information.
 
If you would like to make adjustments to your contribution, please return this form to the Office of 人力资源: 403-B Payroll Deduction Authorization Form.  You may make changes to your salary deferral rate at any time.
